Google just launch he Android 9 Pie today August 7, 2018. The new operating system has new upgrades you can not find in previous Android OS. Some of the upgrades are text magnifier, the non permission of non https links on any Android 9 Pie, new Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning ability among other interesting features for consumers and developers.
The Android 9 Pie has starts rolling out to different smartphones this year. All supported Android One phone will get an update for the new Android OS. Therefore, you should expect Android Pie on Infinix Note 5, Nokia 7 Plus and Xiaomi Mi A2 device as well. Right now all Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are receiving update for the Android Pie.
Information from a forum shows that essential smartphone is also receiving this update. Other smartphones mentioned by Google to receive the Android 9 update are Sony Mobile, Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus. For OnePlus, the OnePlus 6 should receive an update. I don't really know about the OnePlus 5/5T, it is likely it will received an update too, this depends on OnePlus, if their policy permits it.
Compare to Android Oreo, Android 9 Pie has new features than never before. Google confirmed that it partner with tech companies to ensure the success of the Android Pie release. It also claimed that it has been developing this new OS for more than one year. Also, all Android One smartphones should have an update to Android Pie.
