A press release from Spring suggest a new collaboration between Sprint and LG. The two company is partnering to release a 5G smartphone in the first half of 2019. LG and Sprint have been in partnership for more than 20 years. However, the name of the smartphone is not known for now. Sprint aim is to bring 5G mobile phones to its customers in the USA.
Further, the nature of the smartphone is not known yet. LG will announce the name of the phone has well as the launch date next year. It seems this will be the first 5G smartphone in the world. Though, 5G will be available from next year, no smartphone manufacturer has claimed that it will be making smartphones with 5G in 2018. Qualcomm, says it will create a 5G chipset next year. Samsung, according DJ Koh, will not produce a 5G smartphone until 2020, though, it will make 5G available by March 2019.

So, if these are the case, it is certain that LG will be the first company to manufacture a 5G smartphone, as Sprint claimed in its statement.
